Bradfield Secondary School taking positive action following Ofsted Inspection

Bradfield Secondary School, which joined TSAT in February 2020, has received its first Ofsted inspection since joining us and has been found to be making improvements in all areas.

The report , published on 9th February, highlights the positive work taking place at the school, noting that:

  • “Pupils know that school is a safe place”

  • “Leaders are improving the behaviour of pupils at school”

  • “Leaders have strengthened the support for pupils with SEND”

  • Teachers “plan lessons that are ambitious for pupils”

  • “Pupils benefit from an increasing range of extra-curricular activities”

The inspection, which took place in December, found the school to be taking positive action in the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management.

Headteacher Adrian May said: “I am proud of the significant work and efforts made by all our staff during the last 3 years. The inspection team were rigorous and held all aspects of school life under a lens to assess where we are in our improvement journey.”

“The school has capacity to continue this improvement and the team are fully committed to continuing the journey towards a ‘Good’ Ofsted judgement.”

Since joining TSAT Bradfield Secondary School has been supported through an Interim Executive Board, and more recently a Local Governing Board has been reinstated to continue to strengthen community links and engagement.

David Dennis, CEO of TSAT said: “We are pleased with the outcome of the inspection and the acknowledgement that the support the school is receiving from TSAT is driving positive change.”

“Bradfield has made great strides in the journey to being a 'Good' school, securing the improvements following the Covid disruption of the first two years of the school joining TSAT.”

The report recommends further action in attendance, behaviour and subject knowledge in order to become ‘Good’. The school are currently engaged with gathering staff and student voice to further develop the personal development programme.
