Update from Tapton School Academy Trust, 12th May 2020
The Government have announced that, if possible, schools will be encouraged to open for more children from 1st June 2020.
The key groups will be:
- Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6
To be back in school in smaller sizes from 1st June at the earliest, if the Government’s 5 key tests justify changes at that time.
- Year 10 and Year 12
Some face to face contact, in support of continued home learning.
It is also the Governments ambition for all primary school children to return to school before the summer for a month, if feasible. This will be kept under review. There are no current Government plans to reopen secondary schools further before the summer.
In addition, the Government is now encouraging all eligible children (vulnerable children and children of critical workers) to attend – it is no longer necessary for parents to keep them at home if they can. In particular vulnerable children of all year groups continue to be expected and encouraged to attend where it is appropriate for them to do so.
Tapton School Academy Trust is currently working with Sheffield City Council, the Department for Education, and teaching and other unions to agree the detail on how these groups can safely return to school. The safety of our children and staff remains paramount.
We will confirm arrangements as soon as possible, and thank you for continued patience and support.
