Train to Teach with TSAT SCITT
Our vision is to realise the life chances and dreams of every child. Join us as a trainee teacher to support our mission and shape the future.
High quality teaching is the single most impactful factor in our classrooms. We want to help create the next generation of talented teachers for TSAT and the wider profession, and are working in partnership with Teach First, a national charity that develops teachers and leaders who are determined to make a difference.
Our one-year programme involves a powerful mix of self-directed, live training and one-to-one support. And at the end of it, you'll be awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and gain your PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education).
Why train with us?
TSAT is one of the longest established multi-academy Trusts in Sheffield, and we have a proud history of providing high-quality initial teacher training.
We offer education from early years right through to sixth form, with our schools working across a diverse range of communities. Children joining our Trust have a broad range of abilities and social backgrounds. We recognise and celebrate different aptitudes and interests and believe that, with inspiring teaching, everyone can develop through dedication and hard work.
Join our programme for:
- The opportunity to train in 2 local TSAT schools. We are currently the only Teach First partner offering training in a primary setting.
- A structured one-year programme of training and support.
- Access to face-to-face and online expert training modules.
Our training provider, Teach First, is the largest Initial Teacher Training provider in the country and has delivered high quality teacher training for 20 years. Teach First's mission is to help every child fulfil their potential - a mission which we share.
TSAT schools have a long history of providing high quality Initial Teacher Training.
Our programme provides evidence and research-led training created by experts in teaching and teacher development.
Whether you choose Primary or Secondary education, our curriculum focusses on supporting you to put learning into practice, and you will have the support of a trained mentor throughout your training.
Hands On, Specialist Training
Following an initial 2-week training period, you will join your chosen school in September and will be in school to practice teaching throughout the course.
You will also benefit from a placement in a second TSAT school to ensure that you qualify with broad teaching experience gained from interactions in different contexts.
Subject specific training will ensure that you can build on what you know and make your lessons 'come to life' for your pupils.
A Great Place to Work
We work hard to foster the right conditions to make TSAT a great place to work. On joining our programme you will be treated as a member of the team and will benefit from inclusion on our cross-trust training days, collaborative working and an annual well-being day.
You will receive a PGCE (Post-graduate certificate in education) from Sheffield Hallam University, as well as Qualified Teacher Status at the end of the programme.
You will be registered as a full-time student throughout the programme so have access to lots of student benefits, as well as a student loan to cover your fees.
Depending on your subject and qualifications, you may also be eligible for a bursary or grant to support you through your education.
