Vision Support Service
Tapton School is home to the Sheffield Vision Support Service, an educational support service for visually impaired children and young people from 0-25.
The team consists of qualified specialist teachers, specialist teaching assistants, habilitation officers and curriculum support staff. The focus is to ensure the best outcomes for children and young people with a vision impairment. We aim to provide ongoing support to enable each young person to reach their potential, and develop skills to become independent adults who are included in all aspects of their community. The service aims to ensure support is given to families, and work with educational settings to ensure that all children and young people have access to, and are fully included in, all aspects of the curriculum.
The Vision Support Service is based at Tapton School where it has a secondary resource provision for students with a profound vision impairment. In addition to this the outreach team are also based at Tapton and support children and young people across Sheffield in whatever school or setting they attend.
